Ecoclipper launches new investment round
Demand for sustainable shipping has increased in recent years. To meet this, EcoClipper has developed a strategy to launch a fleet of EcoClipper500 ships and Retrofit ships. On 17 February, a new investment round kicked off in Den Helder. The day before, founder Jorne Langelaan had made a presentation at the 7th Green Shipping Summit, where there was an enthusiastic response to the plans. By building seagoing clipper ships and converting existing ships into modern sailing cargo ships, EcoClipper offers a solution to growing demand.
It is now possible to become a co-owner in this fleet. This is done by becoming a member of the EcoClipper Cooperative U.A. and investing in certificates. This gives you ownership rights in the cooperative and makes you an (active) member of the world’s most sustainable and innovative shipping company.
Certificates and dividend
The Ecoclipper Coöperatie U.A. is now issuing certificates at € 7.50 each. Purchase of certificates is possible from 50 units (€ 375) The moment the first Retrofit ship, the Tukker, starts sailing, this price will be € 8. That will be at the end of April this year. The planned dividend is 4%. More profits in the company will be invested in other ships. The certificates are expected to start paying dividends in 2026, when they will also be tradable. The intention is that EcoClipper will eventually operate several EcoClippers 500 and Retro ships, sailing with cargo and passengers.
The Tukker is a schooneraak from 1912 and sailed as a coaster for many years. In the 1980s, she became a Dutch sailing training ship, known for her work with disadvantaged youngsters until 2012. In 2022, she became the first ship of the EcoClipper fleet and now she is being completely refurbished to sail again with cargo and passengers along the western European coasts. The ship has a cargo hold of about 70 cubic metres, and will be able to carry 50-70 tonnes of cargo in it. She will also have accommodation for up to 12 paying passengers.

The EcoClipper500 is a new-to-build 59-metre sailing square-rigged freighter that can carry 500 tonnes of cargo and carry 12 passengers and 36 trainees in addition to 12 crew members.
