Neoliner Origin delivery slightly delayed, 3rd round of trials planned
A fortnight ago, we reported that Neoliner Origin would depart mid-September for its maiden voyage with cargo (cognac). There seems to be a one-month delay.
On its own website and social media, Neoline enthusiastically reports the completion of the second series of sea trials, which would be the last before delivery. But that was around 1 September and they add that there is ‘still some work to be done’. And that “this is what makes pioneering so special”. They do not mention a date for delivery and maiden voyage.
The usually well-informed Le Marin seems to know that there will be a third series of sea trials and that delivery in Turkey has been postponed to 25 September. Arrival at Saint-Nazaire in the Loire estuary would be scheduled for 12 October. The first transatlantic voyage would then begin 15 October.
Reason for concern? Probably not. Neoline chairman Jean Zanuttini has previously noted, “This first ship is also a voyage of discovery for us and the shipyard.”
