Guide on financing windassisted vessels
The French Windship Association has released a practical guide on financing ships with wind-assisted propulsion.
Although the publication is in French, the guide provides valuable insights for (future) shipowners considering starting such a project.
The guide aims to provide clarity on what financial institutions expect and how to effectively prepare a financing dossier. For this purpose, it divides the financing process into three phases:
- Preparation: preparing a business plan and finding financial partners
- Structuring: finalising a financing proposal and the formal credit application process
- Realisation: drafting necessary documentation and launching the project
This practical approach makes it easier for shipowners to make their project financially viable and increases the chances of successful realisation.
