New construction of wind-assisted methanol dual-fuel product tankers
French shipping company EuroGreen Maritime has signed a seven-year charter agreement with Norwegian company Equinor for the newbuildings of four MR product tankers.
The vessels, with a total value of more than $250 million, are scheduled for delivery from Wuhu Shipyard in China from the first half of 2026 through 2027. They will be used for Equinor’s products trade and managed by V.Ships France.
The newbuild vessels will be equipped with a dual-fuel methanol engine with shaft generator, complemented by a hybrid battery system for power generation and a pair of OceanWings sails, developed by French company AYRO. According to the Nantes-based company, they should deliver reductions in greenhouse gas, SOx and NOx emissions of more than 45%, 95% and 50%, respectively, compared with conventional MR designs, exceeding IMO 2030 targets.
