Gloucester Tall Ships Festival coming up

The ships taking part in the Gloucester Tall Ships Festival this weekend are expected to arrive Friday morning. The festival takes place from 25 to Monday 27 May against the historic backdrop of Gloucester Docks.

The first tall ships are scheduled to arrive in British waters late on Thursday 23 May and sail to the Sharpness Canal to dock in Gloucester early on Friday 24 May. Irene and the Spirit of Falmouth will dock around lunchtime and Grayhound and The Phoenix will follow in the early afternoon.
The ships will be the main attraction during the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, alongside a stunning music programme on the main stage. In addition, the festival is bursting with street theatre, interactive installations, playgrounds, fairs and a submarine that will be piloted by a DJ.

“This year’s line-up is very special,” says Robin Kemp, creative director of the festival. “Our mix of historic tall ships, performers, experiences and entertainment is inspired by the port’s global connectivity and history. But most importantly, we want to create a great day out for everyone. Great live music, incredible ships, breathtaking street theatre and some maritime madness come together for a great few days in the port!”
