The Scheepspost Agenda for and by you
The Scheepspost Agenda was again widely consulted in 2025, but fewer events were registered with us. You can help us keep the agenda complete.
The Scheepspost Agenda strives to list all sailing heritage events in the Netherlands. Occasionally, events in neighbouring countries are also listed. Many conservation organisations (BHOs) within the FVEN show a link to the Scheepspost Agenda on their websites. There is also now a list of upcoming events at the bottom of the Scheepspost newsletter and in the sidebar of the website.
The Scheepspost Agenda in 2025
At the end of January 2025, we switched to different software for the calendar. The display is prettier and it is possible to add events to your own calendar on PC or smartphone. Also, BHOs that have a WordPress-based website can connect to the calendar by agreement.
The overview, from the Shipspost front page can be found via Events > Agenda and was accessed 2,526 times in 2025.
At the bottom of the newsletter, there is also a list of 4 upcoming events or as many as there are to experience until the following week. A lot of direct clicks on that too. The top five in 2025:
- Furiade Maassluis 409
- EOC Traditional Ships Fair 326
- Schippertjesdagen Warmond 214
- Information evening ‘Sailing course for landlubbers’ Den Oever 228
- Beurtveer and Strontrace 200
Fewer events in 2025
As popular as ever, we had 82 events on the calendar in 2025, compared to 116 in 2024. The reasons:
- There were simply fewer events. In 2024, many events held once every 2-5 years were catching up after the Covid years.
- Fewer events were registered with us. In the copy in our mailbox and on the sites we follow ourselves, we pick up a lot ourselves, but we also depend on contributions sent by organisers and readers. Through the submission form, we received 31 events, up from 45 in 2024.
Help us with the Scheepspost Agenda
It is no do for the editors to actively look for event announcements in addition to the weekly stream of articles for the three websites. For these reasons, we have an online form that allows you, readers and organisers, to submit your event yourself. The form helps as a checklist for you and saves us a lot of detective work.
The calendar mainly lends itself to events of one to a few days’ duration. Longer-term events such as exhibitions encounter technical and display problems. However, it is possible to list the opening of an exhibition.
If you can’t find your way around the form or if you have any comments, please email evenementen@scheepspost.info.
